From Classroom to Career: 17 Students Begin Manufacturing Pathways

Congratulations to the 17 students who signed with a TRAC Manufacturing Apprenticeship! These students are stepping into a three-year pathway starting their senior year, where they’ll gain real-world, paid work experience, and a FREE Associate’s degree from Salt Lake Community College.
Salt Lake City School District leads the state in real-world apprenticeship opportunities for students. The TRAC (Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection) program launched in 2018 as Utah’s first youth apprenticeship in partnership with Stadler Rail, a Swiss train manufacturer with a large facility in Salt Lake City. The partnership has since expanded to include Doppelmayr and Complex Fabricators. Nearly 100 student apprentices have been placed since 2019. During their senior year, apprentices will divide their time between high school coursework and paid work experience. Graduates leave with industry credentials, hands-on experience, employer connections, and a guaranteed interview for full-time employment.
